Self Made Construction Approved Contractor for Keeping Pomona Homes Healthy Program

The KPHH Program, initiated by the City of Pomona, aims to address household hazards such as mold, lead, allergens, carbon monoxide, and more. Through this program, eligible households can receive assistance of up to $6,900 for necessary repairs and improvements.

Housing Rehabilitation Program
Program Overview
The goal of the Housing Rehabilitation Program is to help low-income households who do not otherwise have funds, to repair health and safety items at their home. The Program is available to low-income families that meet the income limits. Qualified owners may receive grants of up to $10,000.
The City Council has approved funding using Community Development Block Grant (“CDBG”) funds that were allocated to the City of Jurupa Valley by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”).
Allowable repairs include:
- Eliminating code violations
- Substandard conditions
- Health and safety issues (e.g. roofing, plumbing, electrical, heating, flooring, painting)
Please Note: This Program does not include luxury items, such as air conditioners. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility Requirements
The Program is available to families that are owners/occupants. City will check that title matches name(s) on the application.

Income includes employment, Social Security, pensions, self-employment income, disability, stocks, bonds, savings and checking accounts, and child support. To determine income, the City considers savings accounts, stocks, bonds, and other forms of capital investments, since the interest earned on certain assets will be included as income. Household income includes all adults 18 and over living in the home.
2. Homeowners who received a previous grant less than 10 years ago do NOT qualify. This information will be verified through the City’s records.
3. Home must be owner-occupied.
4. All individuals living in the home must be listed on the application.
5. Application must be submitted with all necessary documentation (see documentation checklist on page 5 of the application).

What is the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program?
In 1974, the Federal Government created the CDBG program that replaced a variety of federal urban renewal, housing and neighborhood development programs. CDBG was the first federal ‘block
grant’program. Its purpose is to provide eligible units of governments with funds to help meet the needs of low to moderate (Low to Mod) income areas and persons. The City of Palm Springs receives
an
annual CDBG entitlement allocation established by a formula from the U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development – HUD, for local use, as an entitlement city based on population.
Which City Department oversees the CDBG program?
The City’s Community & Economic Development Department administers the CDBG program along
with a variety of redevelopment and housing activities within the City’s jurisdictional boundary.
What type of housing maintenance assistance is available?
Through the City's CDBG Program, very low income homeowners with real property improvement
needs are provided annual financial assistance for minor routine home maintenance, emergency
repairs, accessibility modifications and code violations of health and safety concerns to the livable
areas of the residence. Disaster preparedness items are addressed in applicant’s first year such as
smoke detectors, natural gas shut-off valves, and hot water heater strapping. Applicants must be the
primary owner-occupant, meet household-income guidelines, and in good financial standing with the
City (delinquency of property taxes, fees, fines, liens, etc.).
We are please to announce a sub-contractor agreement with Long Beach Community Action Partnership. We are signed into contract to deliver on the LIHEAP and DOE related weatherization work. This program consists of minor residential construction focused on saving energy for qualified homes. We perform on jobs such as window and door replacement, HVAC, minor plumbing and electrical, insulation, minor envelope and home repair, and other related work. We enjoy bringing comfort into peoples homes, and also helping them lower their energy bills. It makes everyone at Self Made Construction proud and happy to know we providing direct assistance to many families and seniors. We strive our best to provide them with the best service possible.

Starting in May 2014, Self Made Construction has been in contract with Blue Earth EMS, Inc. providing energy efficent electrical and mechanical services. We are currently providing contracting services for commercial businesses under various utility based energy efficency programs. We have worked in partnership with Pasadena Public Utilities, Riverside Public Utilities, Imperial Irrigation District, Colton Electric Utilities, and Azusa Light and Water. We provide a variety of services, including installation of energy efficent motors for commercial refrigeration , fan speed controls for commercial refrigeration, anti sweat and humidity controls for commerical refrigeration, LED light retrofitting, and hardware for refrigeration doors.

announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Castrovilla Inc. d/b/a Blue Earth Energy
Management Services™ ("BEEMS™"), is in the process of implementing an additional
$1.1 Million in utility funded refrigeration rebate incentives under its highly successful
"Keep Your Cool™" Program.
The proprietary "Keep Your Cool™" Program was designed to give electric utilities an
efficiency program targeting their business customers who operate commercial
refrigeration equipment. The utility supported Program offers energy efficient retrofits like
high efficiency motors, LED lighting and Refrigeration Control Systems, which help
improve a business' bottom line by increasing equipment life and lowering energy bills at a
low or zero cost to the business.
Since 2007 the Keep Your Cool™ Program has been supported and renewed by nearly 20
publicly owned utilities including the cities of Palo Alto, Roseville, Lodi, Redding, Santa
Clara, Healdsburg, Truckee, Alameda and many others in California. Over 1,000
businesses have received energy efficient retrofits under the Program, receiving
approximately $1,900,000 in utility funded rebates. In addition, approximately 12,000,000
